Bruce’s real estate journey began in 1995, where he gained invaluable experience managing the financial operations of a large-scale, diversified private real estate development company, leading to executive-level positions in publicly traded firms. His expertise encompasses large master plan developments, as well as the construction of homes, townhomes, apartments, and mid-rise buildings. Notably, Bruce developed advanced financial models to forecast operational and financial performance across multiple real estate segments. During the peak of the homebuilding market in 2007, he managed accounting and finance for 24 divisions of Standard Pacific Homes, a $4.0 billion revenue homebuilder with over 12,000 home deliveries annually.
Bruce’s extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions includes involvement in 12 homebuilder purchases and successful post-merger integrations. Since 2007, he has collaborated closely with private equity firms to stabilize, streamline, and grow operations, creating significant value. While working with Standard Pacific Homes, he played a pivotal role in reorganizing operations through centralization, resulting in over $300 million in annual cost savings. He also contributed to the company’s strategic land acquisition initiative, participating in the purchase of 475 projects and 42,000 lots valued at $2.8 billion.
In his roles as CFO at LIME Energy, a publicly traded energy efficiency firm with $150 million in annual gross revenues, and as CFO at The Holt Group (Holt Homes), a residential land developer and homebuilder with annual gross revenues of $400 million, Bruce spearheaded stabilization and growth efforts that led to successful sales of the companies. His initiatives included faster month-end closings, enhanced financial reporting, improved budgeting, streamlined board and investor communications, clarified strategic priorities, operating expense reductions, structured refinancings, and IT systems upgrades.
Bruce earned a BS in Business with a major in Accounting and a minor in German Language from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. He began his career at KPMG, where he audited real estate clients and earned his CPA.
